Koh Samui to Host 13th Samui Bike Week in May

Koh Samui is set to host the 13th edition of Samui Bike Week from May 2 to 3, 2025, aiming to boost the island’s tourism economy by attracting both domestic and international motorcycle enthusiasts. Organizers expect at least 10,000 motorcycles to participate, generating a projected 100 million baht in revenue.

The announcement was made on April 26, 2025, at Central Samui Shopping Mall in Bo Phut Subdistrict, Surat Thani Province. The event will be held at Pru Chaweng, with activities designed to highlight Koh Samui’s potential as a major destination for community-based tourism.

Pol. Lt. Col. Dr. Phongsak Boonmas, President of the Samui Bike Week Club, noted that this year’s event will be larger than previous editions. In the past, approximately 3,000 motorcycles joined the event. This year, organizers anticipate participation from bikers across Thailand and neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, alongside an expected daily influx of around 60,000 tourists.

To facilitate transportation to the island, organizers have coordinated with Raja Ferry and Seatran Ferry for charter services. Participants are encouraged to book their ferry tickets in advance, either individually or as groups, through the ferry companies’ websites. Event organizers have also offered assistance in case of any booking difficulties.

Nightly concerts featuring southern bands and popular contemporary groups will entertain attendees during the two-day festival. The event is expected to benefit the local economy significantly, from small vendors to major hotels, particularly those near Chaweng Beach, where accommodations are nearing full occupancy. Authorities have also announced coordinated efforts between Bo Phut Police Station, Koh Samui Police Station, and district agencies to ensure traffic safety and to promote helmet use throughout the event.

Officials present at the event’s announcement included Jirapat Chuchan, Koh Samui District Chief; Na-on Suwannathirakit, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Koh Samui office; Akkara Nakbalang, General Manager of Central Samui Shopping Mall; and Kittistephen Tharaphutthi, Secretary of the Koh Samui Tourism Promotion Association. Each emphasized the event’s role in enhancing the island’s image and promoting cultural tourism both domestically and internationally.
