Authorities on Koh Samui conducted an inspection of foreign workers selling goods near Wat Phra Yai in Bo Phut, Surat Thani, on March 12. The operation, led by local officials, Bo Phut Police, and Region 4 Internal Security Operations Command, aimed to ensure compliance with labor and trade regulations.
During the inspection, officers found a 35-year-old Myanmar woman working as a sales clerk without her employer present. She admitted to having worked in the position for seven months, earning 12,000 baht per month. Officials informed her that the job was among occupations restricted to Thai nationals.
She was charged with working without a permit and selling unregistered medicine. Authorities seized 1,041 items, consisting of 60 different products imported from Myanmar, before transferring her to Bo Phut Police for legal proceedings.
Several local officials and law enforcement officers were present during the operation.
