A Russian national was arrested on Phangan Island after tourists reported concerns about his behavior. Authorities charged him with working illegally and drug use following an investigation.
Tourist police detained 27-year-old Vladislav Klenov on Sunday night after searching the cannabis shop where he was employed. Complaints from vacationers alleged that his behavior, including displaying photos of himself wearing a police tactical vest and holding a rifle, posed a potential risk, according to Pol Lt Col Vinit Boonchit.

During the search, officers discovered an air rifle, handcuffs, a police vest, and a plastic bag containing an unspecified quantity of cocaine. Klenov reportedly admitted to working at the shop in exchange for free accommodation and receiving 17% of sales revenue from cannabis products.
If convicted on drug charges, he could face up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 20,000 baht. Officials present at the scene have not disclosed further details.
