Authorities in Phangan, Surat Thani province, conducted an inspection of a local grocery store following complaints about the sale of illegal Myanmar products to Myanmar nationals on the island. The search, carried out in Moo 6, Ban Tai sub-district, confirmed the presence of uncustomed goods.
During the investigation, police detained a 54-year-old Myanmar woman who was working at the store’s counter. She was charged with exceeding the scope of her permitted work and failing to report her employer’s information.
The store’s Thai owner, identified as 61-year-old Mr. Sakol, faces multiple charges, including selling goods without proper customs clearance, failing to register a foreign worker within the required 15-day period, and allowing an employee to engage in unauthorized work.
The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to enforce labor and trade regulations in the province. Local officials and law enforcement personnel were present during the inspection.
