A massive fire has been raging for hours at a recyclable plastics warehouse in Samut Sakhon’s Ban Paew district, as firefighters struggle to contain the flames. The blaze, which broke out around 10 a.m. on January 29, 2025, quickly engulfed multiple storage facilities filled with highly flammable plastic waste from electricity cables.
By mid-afternoon, at least three warehouses had collapsed, and emergency crews from ten fire stations were working intensively to control the inferno. Thick black smoke continues to billow into the sky, visible from miles away.
Authorities reported that the warehouses were rented by Chinese nationals. A senior fire official noted that efforts to contain the fire were hampered by limited access to the site and an insufficient water supply.
