High Waves Disrupt Koh Samui Activities, Search Continues for Missing Tourist

Authorities on Koh Samui, Surat Thani, imposed restrictions on tours, boat trips, and visits to local waterfalls due to high waves and heavy rains, prioritizing visitor safety on November 24 and 25. Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran Co relocated its services from the Wat Na Phra Lan pier to Saphan Klang pier in Ang Thong and Bangrak pier in Bo Phut, ensuring smoother operations amid adverse weather.

Ferry services between Don Sak, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan remained unaffected by the conditions.

Meanwhile, the search continued on Sunday for Rene Mary Coree, a 77-year-old French tourist who went missing after a long-tail boat carrying 10 French visitors capsized in the Rajjaprabha Dam reservoir on Saturday. Strong winds caused the boat to sink, trapping Mr. Coree under a bench, according to a witness.

Three other French tourists sustained injuries and were treated at Suratthani Hospital, while six of the group continued their journey to Phuket.
